Vi3 was founded in 2019 to fill a growing gap in ecommerce — the need for better ways to sell configurable, physical products online.
Founder Øyvind Sægrov brought a unique combination of experience from two distinct but complementary worlds. At Ingram Micro — one of the world’s largest ecommerce companies — he worked across digital storefronts, logistics, and end-to-end commerce infrastructure. Later, at The Future Group — Norway’s most ambitious 3D startup at the time — he worked with advanced visualization technologies now carried forward by Pixotope and PortalOne.
The idea for Vi3 grew out of that intersection: deep knowledge of global ecommerce operations combined with cutting-edge 3D and customization technology.
In 2021 and 2022, co-founders Lyder Prag Sømme and Tobias Egeli joined the company, bringing with them strong technical and creative expertise. Together, the founding team formed a uniquely capable group to rethink how ecommerce can work — from the ground up.
That same year, Vi3 delivered its first 3D-based configurator for a client. In 2023, the company launched its first fully commercial 3D ecommerce project. By end of 2023, Vi3 was working with its first top-tier brand client — marking a new phase in growth and product maturity.
Our founding team brings together expertise from the worlds of global ecommerce, 3D technology, and innovative software solutions. We’re a diverse group of professionals driven by a shared goal: to transform how ecommerce works — making customization, flexibility, and on-demand production accessible for everyone.
Tobias specializes in product design and user experience. His expertise lies in creating ultra-high levels of detail in 3D models while maintaining a small footprint, with impressive quality that enhances both speed and efficiency in complex visualizations.
Lyder is a dynamic technologist with a natural talent for innovation and an explorative mindset. His ability to quickly adapt and solve complex problems allows him to create scalable and efficient solutions, driving the technical vision of Vi3.
With a background at Ingram Micro and The Future Group, Øyvind brings over 15 years of experience in ecommerce operations and 3D technology. His vision is to bridge the gap between technology and customer demand, shaping a new future for ecommerce.
